_POLICE CHIEF SUSPENDED, from Portland: The mayor of Portland, Tennessee, says an investigation has determined that the leadership of its police department falsified documents related to firearms training.

_BANK FRAUD-HOTEL OWNER, from Baltimore: A hotel management company operator has been charged with submitting fraudulent loan applications to a Maryland bank to buy millions of dollars in commercial and residential properties.

_FORESTS-WILDFIRE MANAGEMENT, from Nashville: Federal conservation officials say a watershed restoration and forestry management project is planned in a large section of East Tennessee.

_FOREST FLOODING-REPAIRS, from Golden Pond: The U.S. Forest Service says it will soon begin repairs at Land Between the Lakes National Recreation Area.
