Marshladies top Bluejays

January 1, 2019

HORICON — A balanced scoring attack was not enough for the Johnson Creek Bluejays girls basketball team to topple Horicon on Friday night.

The Bluejays got 13 points from Kaitlyn Kuhl and 12 from each Desiree Weihert and Rylie Thomas, but the Marshladies were too strong offensively in a 75-51 road loss for Johnson Creek.

Kuhl scored 11 of her 13 in the first half, and Thomas did the majority of her damage in the second half, where she led the Bluejays with eight points.

Horicon (4-5) was led by Karissa Laabs, who scored 16 points. Fourteen of those points came in the first half as the Marshladies built a 47-32 lead over the Bluejays (1-9).

Johnson Creek is next in action on Jan. 8, 2019,, when it travels to Deerfield for a Trailways South Conference contest at 7:15 p.m.
