Girls Soccer | Lourdes ties Breck in non-conference game

October 1, 2018

MINNEAPOLIS — Lourdes went out of conference on Saturday and settled for a 3-3 overtime tie with Breck in girls soccer.

Both teams scored twice in the first half and once in the second.

“Overall, I was pleased with our performance on the day,” Lourdes coach Sarah Groven said. “It was a very physical game and we held our own throughout. Breck plays a really tough schedule in Class A and traveling there for a game is a great measuring stick for us on the season.”

Lourdes played most of the game while fighting from behind.

“They would score, and then we would score, and we traded goals the entire afternoon,” said Groven, whose team is 10-1-1.

Emma Schmitz, Emma Mahoney and Alyssa Ustby each had a goal for Lourdes. Goalie Lauren Nickels was busy, with 11 saves.
