Nebraska Women’s Match Play gets underway today

The three-day Nebraska Women’s Match Play Championship gets underway today at Yankee Hill Country Club in Lincoln.

The field is set and 47 players will be competing, including 14 in the Gross Division, and 33 in the Net Division. This competition, which features two separate divisions (Gross and Net), will begin with an 18-hole Stroke Play Qualifier this morning after which, both divisions will be flighted for Match Play. In the Gross Division the low 16 scores will comprise the Championship bracket; any remaining players will be placed into brackets of eight. The Net Division will be flighted into brackets of eight based on net qualifying scores. Last year, Scottsbluff’s Kaitlyn Krzyzanowski defeated Papillion’s Kayla Barnes, 3 and 1, in the Championship Final at Platteview Golf Club in Bellevue. Amongst the area golfers are Norfolk’s Phyllis Hall, Bev McKillip, Nita Totten, Julie Hall, and Allison Temple. Snyder’s Hannah Hunke & Beemer’s Lacie Fox will also be in competition.
