Cabell Midland basketball falls short in South Carolina

CLEVELAND, Tenn. - Huntington St. Joe downed Cleveland (Tenn.), 65-40, in Saturday’s championship game of the Cleveland Holiday Classic.

Bailee Adkins scored 13 for St. Joe (8-2). Dena Jarrells and Paige Shy both scored 12. Hannah Roberts added 10.

Madison Disher led the host Blue Raiders (6-9) with 15 points.

COLUMBIA 47, CABELL MIDLAND 33: Cabell Midland’s run through the Battery Division of the Carolina Invitational girls basketball event ended in the championship game.

Columbia, South Carolina, defeated Cabell Midland, 47-33. Autumn Lewis scored eight to lead the Knights (6-2).

BUCKHANNON-UPSHUR 53, SPRING VALLEY 41: Audrey Gaudet’s 15 points paced the Buccaneers past the Timberwolves at the Buckhannon-Upshur Mixer. Shelby McDaniels scored 12 and Allie Robinson netted 11 for the home team (6-4).

Haley McComas led the Timberwolves (2-8) with 18 points, eight rebounds, three assists and three steals. McComas and teammate Ella Edwards made the all-tournament team.

SOUTH POINT 63, SOUTH WEBSTER 28: Emilee Carey and Emilee Whitt led South Point past the Jeeps on Saturday. Carey scored 16, followed by Whitt with 15. Ashley Perkey had nine rebounds and Kate Mundy collected six for the Pointers (6-1).

South Webster slipped to a 2-9 record.

DUBLIN COFFMAN 73, FAIRLAND 50: Luke Bartemes scored 21 and and Will Hunter added 15 as the Shamrocks (7-0) beat the Dragons (5-3) in Worthington, Ohio.

Fairland freshman Aiden Porter tossed in 20 points and Gavin Hunt scored 10.

IRONTON 76, WOODBRIDGE 65: Charlie Large led the Fighting Tigers (5-3) with 32 points. Ethan Wilson followed with20 and Reid Carrico tossed in 16.

WAYNE 56, NITRO 26: Lakyn Adkins and Sara Hooks led Wayne past Nitro in the championship game of the Wayne Holiday Tournament.

Adkins tossed in 16 points and Hooks scored 10 for the Pioneers (8-0). Nitro fell to 6-2.

Hurricane (3-3) downed Chesapeake (4-5) in the consolation game, 50-35.

Autumn Lewis of the Knights (6-1) had 10 points and 10 rebounds. Ryle Allie also scored 10.

LOGAN 70, PIKEVILLE 62: David Early led all scorers with 36 as the Wildcats (6-1) picked up a win at the Mountain Schoolboy Shootout. Conner Roberts of Pikeville (6-3) fired in 32 points.

Logan improved to 6-1 on the season while Pikeville dropped to 6-3.

OAK HILL 47, ROCK HILL 43: The Oaks (8-1) outscored the Redmen 6-2 in overtime to claim victory in Pedro, Ohio. Drew Hanning made four free throws in the extra period and Mason Darby added a basket. Darby finished with 16 points and Hanning 10. Chase Hammond led Oak Hill with 17. Braden Stamper paced Rock Hill (3-4) with 20 points.

LOGAN (OHIO) 60, GALLIA ACADEMY 42: Bo Myers scored 30 points to lead the Chieftains (5-3) to a triumph over the Blue Devils (3-3) in Logan, Ohio.

MEIGS 70, MORGAN 60: Weston Baer led the Marauders (4-5) with 22 points in a win over the Raiders in the River Coty Classic at Marietta College. Zach Bartrum scored 16 and Coulter Cleland 10. Carver Meyers led Morgan with 23 points.

SOUTH WEBSTER 64, SYMMES VALLEY 58: Tanner Voiers scores 19 and Trae Zimmerman 17 as the Jeeps (4-4) edged the Vikings. Jack Leith led Symmes Valley with 15 points.

HURRICANE 87, HILTON HEAD 41: Austin Dearing tossed in 25 points and Jordan Nicely 24 to lead the Redskins (6-0) to a win in the Doyle Kelley Classic in Savannah, Georgia. Austin Womack added 13 points. Hilton Head (4-9) received 15 points from Dean Selbach.

POCA 65, VAN 40: Evan McKneely poured in 23 points for the Dots (3-2) in the victory in the Upper Kanawha Valley YMCA Christmas Tournament at WVU Tech. Preston Barr added 11 points for Poca. Gavin Smith scored 26 points for the Bulldogs.

WILLIAMSTOWN 65, BUFFALO 52: Cullen Cutright scored 22 and Grenton Lynch 18 as the Yellowjackets (7-0) beat the Bison in the Wirt County Holiday Tournament. Noah Thompson scored 12 for Buffalo (4-3) and Alex Hanshaw chipped in 10.
