AYER -- Though a loss to Stoneham in last week’s MIAA Division 6 state semifinal prevented the Littleton Tigers from achieving the ultimate goal, they still got to close out the 2018 season with a win.

The Tigers defeating the Ayer Shirley Panthers in a frigid Route 110 Cup, 20-14, Thursday morning at Ayer Shirley High.

The Tigers never trailed and led 14-0 at halftime, but the game was still entertaining.

It was the seventh straight win for Littleton over their Route 110 rivals, and the closest Ayer Shirley had played the Tigers since their last win in the series, a 22-14 victory in 2011.

Littleton’s Mitch Beaudoin was named game MVP after scoring all three touchdowns for the Tigers.

Mick Mitrano was named the Panthers’ MVP for a stout two-way game. Jim Robinson and Lucas Sargent scored the Panther touchdowns, with Sargent’s coming on a hook and ladder on the final play of the game.

Littleton finished the season at 9-3, while Ayer Shirley closed the book at 5-6.
