Name of toddler killed in pit bull attack released
PHILADELPHIA (AP) — Authorities have released the name of a toddler killed by pit bulls inside a northeast Philadelphia home.
The Philadelphia Inquirer reports that the city’s medical examiner said an autopsy Friday determined that Javon Torres died of “multiple blunt and penetrating injuries” in Wednesday’s attack. The death was ruled accidental.
Police say responding officers could see the child being attacked through the front door of the Port Richmond home and fired shots at the dogs, killing two and wounding a third. Two other pit bulls in the home were caged.
Three other people were in the house at the time but weren’t injured. A spokesman for the prosecutor’s office said no decision on whether charges should be filed would be made until the investigation has been completed.
