Night of 1,000 Lights brings Christmas shoppers to downtown
Downtown Aiken will shine bright Thursday evening during this year’s Night of 1,000 Lights.
Each year, shops downtown stay open later and spread holiday cheer with treats, music and drinks for those who come for the lights and stay for the fun.
Lanterns are set up lining the streets and Christmas lights twinkle during the event, which is free of charge.
“There’s a ton of energy that night especially,” said Wilie Haislip with True Value Hardware,” Yeah, this time of year being Christmas time everyone’s doing their shopping.”
Shops stay open later that night, and True Value isn’t any different. Haislip said they stay open as long as people keep coming around, and they had a good turnout last year even with the rainy weather.
At True Value, Kaminer Haislip does a show featuring her silver smithing, and displays jewelry, teapots and more.
“It’s a lot of fun,” Wilie said.
