Cajun night returns to LACA
The Ludington Area Center for the Arts celebrated Louisiana music, food and culture Saturday with its third annual Cajun night music and dance fundraiser.
The event was curated by Barry and Julie Sherlock, who oversaw the evening’s cuisine and dance lessons, respectively, for the third consecutive year.
With music from Chad Rushing and the returning Sel de Terre avec Appleseed Collective, the event drew dozens of people to LACA’s main gallery, where the dinner took place, and newly upgraded performance hall, where Julie showed attendees some traditional Cajun dance moves.
The performance hall now includes removable theater chairs, a state-of-the-art soundsystem and new P.A., courtesy of an anonymous $30,000 donation and funds raised during Ludrock concerts.
Funds from the evening will go toward promoting the arts in the Ludington area and to funding future programming at the arts center, according to Andrew Skinner, LACA operations manager.
