Providence house fire injures residents, firefighters
PROVIDENCE, R.I. (AP) — Fire officials in Providence are investigating a blaze that damaged a three-story home and displaced 18 adult residents.
Crews responded to the house fire around 12:30 p.m. Sunday. Authorities say several people in the home at the time of the fire were rescued with ladders.
A resident was treated for smoke inhalation. Multiple firefighters were treated for undisclosed injuries.
The Red Cross said it is helping 18 people who lived in the Elmwood Avenue home.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
