Creighton 74, Nebraska-Omaha 71

OMAHA, Neb. (AP) _ Edward St. Fleur scored 17 points and Randall Crutcher added 14 to lead the Creighton Bluejays to a 74-71 victory over Nebraska-Omaha on Thursday night.

Creighton (2-0) took its biggest lead of the game at 72-65 on a free throw by Crutcher with 2:08 remaining. The Mavericks (1-3) then went on a 6-0 run to cut the lead to one on a 3-pointer by Shadric Thomas.

St. Fleur was fouled with 19 seconds remaining and he made one of two free throws to give the Bluejays a 73-71 lead. St. Fleur then tipped away a Nebraska-Omaha pass and the Bluejays got the ball from a tieup on the alternate possession rule.

After a timeout by the Mavericks, Creighton’s Tad Ackerman was fouled on the inbounds pass and he made one of two free throws.

Troy Kloewer led Nebraska-Omaha with 14 points, while Derrick Bogay had 13 and Richard Jones 11.
