Delta Adds to Code-Share Flights
ATLANTA (AP) _ Delta Air Lines said Friday it would begin code-share flights with its alliance partner, Air France, to Jordan and Morocco later this month.
The flights, which are to start Dec. 15, will serve Amman, Jordan, from Paris and Casablanca and Rabat, Morocco, from Paris. Delta also will sell seats on Air France’s flight from Lyon to Casablanca.
Delta recently started code-share service with the Moroccan carrier, Royal Air Maroc, between New York and Casablanca, with connections to Agadir, Marrakech and Tangier.
Code-sharing agreements allow one airline to sell seats as its own on another carrier. They have become popular as a way for airlines to offer service to destinations they don’t serve with their own planes.
Delta plans to begin its own service next spring from New York to Tel Aviv, Israel; Cairo, Egypt; and Dubai. It also plans to code-share on New York flights to Tel Aviv with El Al, the Israeli national airline, pending governmental approval, Delta spokesman Russ Williams said.
Delta and Air France announced a broad alliance last year, which has grown to include Aeromexico, Korean Air and CSA Czech Airlines.
