Clarks Summit Police Investigating Thieves Posing As Utility Workers

August 25, 2018

CLARKS SUMMIT — Borough police are seeking information about men who pretended to be water company employees to steal from an elderly person Wednesday.

Police said a middle-aged man driving a silver station wagon or small SUV arrived at a West Grove Street home at about 5 p.m. Wednesday and asked to come inside to do work. The elderly resident let the man and two other men inside. The homeowner took the men to the basement, but confronted them when they started to go in other rooms in the house. The men then left in a hurry. The homeowner noticed items were taken from a bedroom.

Police remind residents to obtain proper identification from utility employees. Anyone with information is asked to call borough police at 570-587-3026.
