LOCAL COLLEGE: Schoen Secures 12th At National Championships

Misericordia University senior and Scranton Prep graduate Clare Schoen finished 12th in the 10,000-meter race Thursday at the NCAA Division III Championships in Geneva, Ohio.

Schoen finished in 37:13.77, putting her mid-pack among the 22-runner field.

King’s College thrower Cayle Spencer (Lake-Lehman) competed in the javelin and finished 17th with a throw of 124 feet, 8¼ inches. Brooke France of Pacific

University won the event at

146 feet, 5 inches.

All-Region picks

Several players from local schools were selected for the d3baseball.com Mid-Atlantic All-Region team.

University of Scranton sophomore Connor Harding and Keystone College senior Dakota McFadden were named to the second team at outfield and DH, respectively. Marywood University junior first baseman Jake Schuster was chosen to the third team.

Misericordia placed senior relief pitcher Kyle Melahn on the first team, sophomore starting pitcher Ian McCole on the second team and senior shortstop Kenny Jarema to the third team.
