Friends of area library issue their annual report
LAKE MILLS -- The Friends of the L.D. Fargo Public Library in Lake Mills held their annual meeting in October. The following is the report for the period October 2017-September 2018:
-- Major expenses: $1,000 scholarship to a Lake Mills area high school senior; $850 for children’s program Read, Rhythm and Rhyme; $750 for Lake Mills elementary schools’ book clubs and literature circles; $570 to Jefferson County Literacy Council for memorials and adult summer reading program incentives; $550 for author visits by Kathleen Ernst and Jim Rice; $525 for appearance by Inga Witscher, host of the Wisconsin Public Television program “Around the Farm Table”; $441 for printing and postage; $420 for large-print Louise Penny books; $111 for holiday roping; $100 each for Lake Mills High School play fund, Chamber of Commerce membership and Halloween candy for Witches’ Night Out; and $80 for Knickerbocker Festival trivia team registration.
-- Major income: investment income and interest, $3,836; individual memberships, $2,240; corporate memberships, $1,775; and used book sales, $380.
The Friends were founded in 1987 to support the library staff and board; sponsor programs designed to improve the social, cultural and intellectual life of the community; and promote the library in all phases of community life.
