Miami 67, South Florida 58

MIAMI (AP) _ Joe Wylie scored 13 of his 19 points in the second half to lift Miami to a 67-58 victory over South Florida Monday night.

The Hurricanes (8-18) split the season series after dropping the first meeting 79-71 at Tampa. The Bulls, 18-9 after losing three of their last four games, have never won in four games at Miami.

After not attempting a free throw in the first half, Miami hit 11 of 12 in the second half. The Hurricanes led 56-53 with 2:24 left.

Trevor Burton scored 15 of his 18 points in the second half. He also had six assists. Wylie added 13 rebounds and Hammie Ward scored 12 points, eight above his average.

Miami took its largest lead at 50-41 with 9:40 left in the game, capping a 16-7 run.

In the first half, South Florida’s largest lead was five. Radenko Dobras, who finished with 11 points, hit three 3-pointers to help the Bulls to a 26-25 lead at intermission.

The Bulls’ Fred Lewis added 18 and Gary Alexander had 13 points and 10 rebounds.
