US Wishes Yeltsin Quick Recovery

October 26, 1998

WASHINGTON (AP) _ President Clinton’s spokesman expressed confidence today that Russian President Boris Yeltsin’s latest health setback would not delay steps to resolve Russia’s economic crisis.

``We wish him a speedy recovery,″ White House press secretary Joe Lockhart said, noting reports that doctors ordered Yeltsin to cancel a trip to Austria because of unstable blood pressure and extreme fatigue.

``We don’t think this will or should get in the way of the economic decisions that are going on there to put Russia back on a firmer financial footing,″ Lockhart said.
