Man in wheelchair shot in Springfield
SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (AP) — Springfield police are investigating a shooting that landed a man who uses a wheelchair in the hospital.
Police say the victim was shot in the abdomen and buttocks on the streets of the city’s South End at about 8 a.m. Sunday.
The victim was found lying in the street near his overturned wheelchair.
He was taken for surgery at Baystate Medical Center and is expected to survive. His name was not made public.
Police are still looking for the shooter, described as a Hispanic man, about 5-foot-8. He was wearing a beige hooded sweat shirt that was found ditched near the scene.
