July 6, 2018

JAFFREY, N.H. (AP) — Police in New Hampshire say they found a man carrying more than $22,000 worth of drugs he was planning to sell in a shoebox.

WMUR-TV reports police in Jaffrey responded to a report that the man was carrying the drugs.

Police say they approached the 29-year-old man and told him to put the shoebox and other items on the ground, but he ran down the street. An officer said the man tossed the box, and some of its contents spilled out.

Police said they seized $15,000 worth of crack cocaine, $7,400 worth of heroin and more than $4,000 in cash.

The man, identified as Alan Wheeler, was charged with possession of controlled drugs with intent to distribute and resisting arrest. Court officials say he’s scheduled for arraignment Monday. His case is assigned to a public defender’s office.
