Bellaire readies to unveil renovated Ware Family Park

January 22, 2019

The city of Bellaire is ready to unveil Ware Family Park for area residents.

With PATRONS for Bellaire Park, the city will host the grand re-opening of the park at 800 Jacquet Drive from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 26.

Following a ribbon-cutting ceremony featuring Mayor Andrew Friedberg, city officials and PATRONS at 11:15 a.m., there will be free games, food and fun activities.

According to a release from the city, “The Bellaire City Library will have a dedication ceremony at 12 p.m. for their newest Little Free Library. Free hot dogs and refreshments provided by Randall’s and HEB will be served by The Optimist Club of Bellaire.”

There will be activities including the Doodle Bus, kid’s crafts and old-fashioned picnic games.

Ware Family Park has been newly renovated and re-energized with all new play equipment. The Park features a Disc Swing for children of all abilities and a colorful Shadow Play Swing Set donated by PATRONS for Bellaire Parks as part of PATRONS ‘Pocket Park Project’ initiative to include new all-ability play features in Bellaire’s Pocket and Community parks.

PATRONS together with the city of Bellaire and the Parks and Recreation Citizen Advisory Board is planning to upgrade Bellaire playgrounds with new and exciting play features that can provide inclusive play opportunities for children of all physical, social, cognitive, and sensory abilities.

PATRONS has supported the Bellaire community by raising funds to make Bellaire parks a destination for play and socializing through their fundraising events like the Wine and Tapas Gala, Tents in Town, Dive-In Movie and Trolley Run for more than 10 years.

Parking for the event will be available in the parking garage located at 6300 West Loop South, across the street from the park.

Sponsors and community partners helped make this event possible include PATRONS for Bellaire Parks, HEB, Randall’s, Optimist Club of Bellaire, Parks and Recreation Citizen Advisory Board, Nature Discovery Center, Bellaire City Library, Friends of the Bellaire Library, Bellaire Culture and Art Board and Bellaire Young Mothers. Come join the fun!
