Apartment blaze displaces 26 people in central Las Vegas
LAS VEGAS (AP) — A fire official says no one was seriously hurt, but at least 26 people were displaced by an apartment fire in central Las Vegas.
Assistant Clark County Fire Chief Troy Tuke says firefighters arrived a little after 11 a.m. Monday and battled heavy smoke and flames in an upstairs apartment at the complex about 3 miles (4.8 kilometers) west of the Las Vegas Strip.
Tuke says smoke and water damaged adjacent and downstairs apartments.
He says eight displaced adults and 18 children are being aided by the American Red Cross.
Tuke says a damage assessment is being made and the cause of the fire is under investigation.
