Other Jones Called Up

MIAMI (AP) _ Left-hander Bobby M. Jones was recalled Tuesday by the New York Mets from Norfolk of the International League and was the loser in a 9-8 defeat to the Florida Marlins.

Jones allowed seven runs _ six earned _ and six hits in four innings. He walked three and struck out one.

At Norfolk, Jones was 7-3 with a 4.11 ERA with 36 walks and 52 strikeouts in 76 2-3 innings. He made 12 starts and one relief appearance.

Jones had been with the Mets from June 13-23, and made just one relief appearance. He allowed no runs, no hits, walked two and struck out two in one inning at Milwaukee June 16.

Right-hander Jim Mann was optioned to Triple-A Norfolk. He had no decisions in two appearances with New York. He gave up six hits and three runs in 2 2-3 innings.
