1 dead following Massachusetts house fire
PLYMOUTH, Mass. (AP) — Massachusetts police say a man died after a fire broke out in his home.
Plymouth District Attorney Tim Cruz says 58-year-old William Hunt III was found unresponsive in his Plymouth home on Saturday.
WFXT reports neighbors saw smoke coming from the two-story home around 1 p.m. and notified authorities.
Hunt, who was the only person living at the home, was taken to Beth Israel Deaconess Hospital where he was pronounced dead.
Fire Chief Ed Bradley says it is unlikely in Plymouth for a fire in the middle of the afternoon to turn deadly.
He added this was preventable as there were no working smoke detectors on the second floor, where Hunt was found.
Authorities say the fire is still under investigation and foul play is not suspected.
