Stars Provides Night of Dancing, Laughs

Thursday’s annual Dancing with the Broomfield Stars won by ‘star’ Jean Markel and her dancing partner Roberto Munoz of Colorado Conservatory of Dance.

Approximately 800 people were in attendance at the event at the 1stBank Center, and more than 100 volunteers assisted the Broomfield Community Foundation in producing the show that is a major fundraiser for the Foundation.

The first part of the evening included food booths around the concourse dinner items and bite provided by Infinitus Pie, Delvickio’s, Bonefish Grill, Dapper Doughnut, North Side Tavern, Modern Edge Catering, KT’s BBQ, 5280 Burger Bar, Buenos Tiempos, Village Tavern, Melting Pot, Nothing Bundt Cakes, Tiller’s Kitchen and Bar, 3 Chicks Kitchen, Sweet Reality Baked Goods. and Gordon Biersch Brewery.

The show was opened by the Legacy High School Band, with FACE Vocal Band of Boulder providing entertainment during a break. Kylie Bearse of 9News emceed.

Marianna Williamson, executive director of the Broomfield Community Foundation, said approximately $120,000 was raised from the event.

Other dancing “stars” were Steve Bauer and Lorrie Gypin, Barbara Gart, Grayson Hofferber, Gregg Moss, Carrie Nitchoff, Dayna Scott and Dave Shinneman.

Other professional dancers were Timmy Merz (Booth Dancesport Ballroom), Allison Johnson (Love Laugh Dance), Stephanie McGill (Dance Arts Studio), Julia Wilkinson Manley (Colorado Conservatory of Dance), Jason Saxe (Booth Dancesport Ballroom) and Sidiki Sylla (Jeh Kulu Dance & Drum Theater).

Scott danced with Sylla, who is a long-time friend of hers from western Africa who now operates a dance studio in Burlington, Vermont.
