Yoncalla’s defensive shuts down Waldport, 48-14

WALDPORT — Yoncalla put on a defensive display of power to defeat Waldport 48-14 in the season opener.

Yoncalla coach Matt Bragg said Elijah Allen, Austin Marquez and Ian Sprinkle all had big defensive games, keeping Waldport to 45 yards rushing and 33 yards receiving in the first three quarters.

The Eagles (1-0) were up 28-0 at halftime and lead 40-0 lead after three quarter.

Dominic Aguilar had 13 carries for 80 yards and a touchdown. Jordan Aguilar had 10 carries for 144 yards and two TDs.

Austin Clemons had five carries for 100 yards and two scores, Corbin Eichman carried the ball twice for 60 yards including a 39-yard touchdown run in the second quarter.

Yoncalla will play at Triad next Friday.
