Block Notes TaxCut Glitch Does Not Affect Tax Offices
NEW YORK (AP) _ A glitch in an H&R Block Inc. software for people who do their own taxes does not affect returns done at H&R tax preparation centers, the company said Tuesday.
Some people have become confused by reports about the error in the TaxCut software and thought it affected returns prepared by H&R professionals, company spokesman Eric Steinhaus said.
H&R Block provides tax services at 8,200 offices nationwide. It sells TaxCut through a software subsidiary based in Boston.
A defect in the TaxCut software can cause items in a preliminary list, such as charitable deductions, to be deleted when moved to a final version.
