LITTLE ROCK, Ark. _ Colton turned 17 alone in an unheated juvenile jail cell in Batesville, 370 miles from home. He had only a thin mat and blanket for sleeping. Slugs crept in through a space between the wall and the ground. Water was turned off. Guards took his Bible, he said, but supplied a few squares of toilet paper when asked. By Amanda Claire Curcio.
JONESBORO, Ark. _ Ten-year-old Alycia Wadkins is unlike other children her age, because she would rather spend time away from screens. “It’s not right,” she said about the amount of time children her age spend glued to their phone, tablet, computer and video game screens. “You need family time and to enjoy nature.” By Matthew Wells.

NEW ORLEANS _ Kyra Collier scored 21 points, including the game-winning layup with 1:09 to play, and Little Rock defeated South Alabama 57-56 in the Sun Belt tournament championship game on Saturday, earning an automatic berth in the NCAA Tournament for the second-straight season. Sun Belt player of the year Ronjanae DeGray added 19 points and 10 rebounds for the top-seeded Trojans (21-10) and her twin sister Raeyana had nine points and 10 rebounds. AP Photos.
