SALISBURY, Md. (AP) _ George Mayer kicked field goals of 30 and 33 yards and Daron Wimbish scored on a 1-yard run Saturday to lift Salisbury State to a 12-2 win over Catholic University.

Salisbury State (6-2) held Catholic (4-3-1) scoreless until late in the fourth quarter, when Ron Jackson blocked Brad Wheedleton's punt from Salisbury State's 23-yard line and the ball rolled through the end zone for a safety.

Mayer opened the scoring with a 30-yard field goal at 9:49 in the first quarter, capping an 11-play 35-yard opening drive. His second field goal, at 11:27 in the second quarter, followed a blocked punt by Reggie Baker of Salisbury. Salisbury recovered at the Catholic 24-yard line and advanced to the 16 before Mayer kicked his second field goal.

Wimbish scored the game's only touchdown in the fourth quarter.
