Vendors needed for flea market

August 20, 2018

The Steele City Flea Market & Machinery Show will be held Sept. 15-16 in Steele City, Nebraska.

Vendors are needed for the event, selling everything from antiques and primitives to collectibles and crafts. Vendors can pre-register and reserve spaces for $20 per space per day ($40 for the weekend).

All unreserved spaces are free on a first-come, first-served basis starting the Friday of the flea market. There will be a charge of $15 for vendors requiring electricity. Electric hookups must be reserved in advance, because the number of hookups is very limited. Food vendors are especially needed for the two-day event and several general vendors are already signed up. Please contact Tammy Katz at 402-442-2367 for more information or if you would like to reserve a spot.

Held with the flea market are the Historical Demonstrations, such as the lumber-cutting mills. Midway up the hill in Steele City, Blacksmith Demonstrations will be held by area blacksmiths during both days. Historical museum buildings will be open for viewing in the Steele City Historical District.

An Antique Machinery Show is also conducted and includes everything with older tractors. A tractor show, tractor games, tractor pull, tractor drive and tractor parade is planned during the flea market. New this year will be a Garden Tractor Pull held in conjunction with the Antique Tractor Pull. The Antique Tractor Pull has also added a stock tractor class with no entry fee. A Corn Hole Tournament and Street Dance will be held on Saturday. The street dance will feature the popular Rewind Band, from Marysville, Kansas.

The Flea Market and machinery show is sponsored by the Jefferson County Historical Society and you can contact the Rock Island Depot in Fairbury at 402-729-5131 for more information.
