New Hurricane business serves new and expectant mothers
HURRICANE — Yet another ribbon-cutting ceremony took place on Main Street in Hurricane last week, this one to welcome The Nest, a new local business.
Area officials and members of the business community gathered to help open the new store on Wednesday, Nov. 21.
The Nest will serve new and expectant mothers and their babies by providing education and wellness classes, offering clothing consignment and quality mom and baby apparel, including handmade items. The boutique is owned by Heather Freas, a local mother of three who is a registered labor and delivery nurse, a lactation specialist and childbirth educator with over 15 years of experience.
“I have always wanted to teach, and this is a perfect opportunity,” Freas said.
Having been a traveling nurse for a while and working odd hours, Freas confessed that being able to spend more time with her family was a big motivation to start her own business.
The Nest currently offers childbirth and breastfeeding classes, Mommy and Me Barre and Prenatal Yoga, as well as a popular Zumbini class which is a Zumba-based early childhood development program focused on music and movement for children 0-5 years old and their caregivers. The business also offers the unique breastfeeding photo sessions, which help capture the beautiful connection between mother and baby during breastfeeding.
Upcoming classes, events and services, to name a few, will include a sibling class to help the little ones prepare for the new baby and learn how to help, infant CPR, Babysitting 101, REFIT, baby sign language, Moms Night Out, essential oils, and prenatal massage.
The Nest is located in downtown Hurricane on 151 Dudding Ave., next door to Rock Paper Sisters. Visit www.thenestwv.com for the latest updates and class schedules.
