Bail reduced for Kalispell man after homicide mistrial

July 9, 2019

KALISPELL, Mont. (AP) — A judge has ordered a significant bail reduction for a Kalispell man who was charged with killing his boyfriend after jurors couldn’t reach a verdict in his deliberate homicide trial last month.

The Daily Inter Lake reports 35-year-old Ryan Cody Lamb has been jailed since August 2018 in lieu of $300,000 bail. District Judge Robert Allison reduced his bail to $15,000 on Monday.

Deputy Flathead County Attorney Alison Howard said she expects prosecutors will file an amended negligent homicide charge for the stabbing death of 33-year-old Ryan Nixon.

Judge Allison said prosecutors must file any amended charge before Lamb’s next court hearing on Aug. 7.

Jail records indicate Lamb remained in custody Tuesday. If he is released, he can’t use drugs or alcohol, must live with his father in Whitefish and can’t contact witnesses.
