Troopers Seize 61 Pounds Of Cocaine
SOUTH BRUNSWICK, N.J. (AP) _ Authorities seized 61 pounds of cocaine Saturday when they arrested five men on the New Jersey Turnpike, state police said.
Two suspects were stopped for driving too slowly, said Capt. Joseph Kobus, a state police spokesman. Troopers found the cocaine, with an estimated street value of $30 million, behind a backseat, he said. Three other men were arrested at a rest area.
All were held without bail and faced arraignment Monday.
The two drivers - Antonio Celiz, 46, and Julio Salinas, 44, both of Miami - were charged with possession of cocaine and possession with intent to distribute.
Gustavo Acevedo, 33, and Manuel Saldarriaga, 47, both of Miami, and Francisco J. Pacheco, 27, of New York, were arrested at the rest stop. They were charged with possession of cocaine, possession with intent to distribute and conspiracy.
