5K races coming up in the Tri-State

Thursday, Nov. 15

>> Lawrence County Luminary 5K. 6:30 p.m. The Point Industrial Park. South Point. Luminaries will light up a paved path through The Point Industrial Park. With only a few slight inclines, the course is great for your first 5k and an opportunity for PR if you are a experienced runner. $25 entry. All proceeds benefit the Lawrence County Chamber of Commerce Academic Scholarship Fund.

Saturday, Nov. 17

>> 6th annual Run for Los Ninos. 9 a.m. Barboursville Park, Barboursville. Begin at the lake, out to the soccer fields and across the bridge, turn around, then back to the lake. Fast course with some rolling hills. $25 entry. All race proceeds go to NESH Fund, Inc., a non-profit organization which provides the people of Nicaragua with Education, Shelter, and Health benefits. Examples include building houses, providing tuition and uniforms for school children as well as college students, and specific health care as needed.

>> TuTu Trot 5K presented by the Ashland Youth Ballet. 9 a.m. Crabbe Elementary School. Ashland. Uses the City of Ashland Central Park course. Runners start and finish at the Crabbe Elementary School. $25 entry. Proceeds benefit AYB outreach activities including performances and scholarships for under-served youth.

Sunday, Nov. 18

>> Angel Tree Dash 5K. 2 p.m. Fit Faith, 202 Park Avenue, Ironton. Starts at the Farmer’s Market on 2nd Street. Course is flat and fast. It is an out-and-back on 1st Street. $25 entry. Proceeds Go to the Angel Tree project making sure every child has a Christmas.
