Blind-Girl Sings Diana Tribute
LONDON (AP) _ A song by a 15-year-old blind girl will be the only single issued from a charity album of songs in memory of Princess Diana, organizers have said.
``I’m In Love With The World,″ sung by Lissa Hermans, has been tipped as a Christmas No. 1 in the British singles chart. It will be released on Dec. 15.
``I think it will be the most amazing Christmas No. 1 in what has been an amazing year,″ Neil Fox, a disc jockey with London’s Capital Radio, said on Tuesday.
Princess Diana first heard Lissa perform the song at the Chicken Shed Theater in London in 1990. The princess liked it so much she took her sons, Princes William and Harry, to visit the theater, which helps children with special needs.
Proceeds from the single and the album will go to the Diana, Princess of Wales Memorial Fund set up after the princess’ Aug. 31 death in a Paris car crash.
The full list of singers on the ``Diana, Princess of Wales - Tribute,″ album, which will go on sale Dec. 1, reads like a Who’s Who from the rock, pop and classical music worlds.
Former Beatle Sir Paul McCartney, Bruce Springsteen and opera star Luciano Pavarotti are among 35 major artists who have agreed to contribute songs.
