Site of overturned vehicle cleared on Route 8, delays remain

UPDATE: 8:15 P.M.

SHELTON — More than an hour after a report of a vehicle rollover, the site of the incident had been cleared and the lanes were reopened to traffic.

The left and center lanes of Route 8 north between Exits 12 and 13 were closed just before 7 p.m. and reopened around 8:15 p.m. as crews worked to get the site cleared.

Reports from AAA showed traffic in the area, headed in either direction. Traffic in the northbound lanes was backed up for up to an hour, AAA reported.

State police indicated the rollover was on Route 8 north near Exit 13, despite reports indicating the overturned vehicle was blocking southbound lanes.

There was no immediate word on any potential injuries or how many cars were involved.

SHELTON — Two lanes of traffic are blocked by an overturned vehicle on Route 8 in Shelton on Wednesday.

The Department of Transportation reported traffic backed up between Exits 11 and 13 on Route 8 north. The overturned vehicle was reported to be between Exits 12 and 13. The right and center lanes are closed. The incident was reported just before 7 p.m.

Reports from AAA showed that traffic was stopped, and that delays up to an hour in the area were possible.

Disputing these reports, state police indicated the rollover was on Route 8 south near Exit 13. State police said the right and center lanes were closed.
