Stocks Stabilize in Early Trading

NEW YORK (AP) _ Stocks stablized further in early trading Wednesday, with tentative buying easing the selling pressure that depressed Wall Street in the aftermath of the World Trade Center attack.

In the first hour of trading, the Dow Jones industrials rose 26.34 to 8,930.04.

Broader indexes also advanced. The Nasdaq composite index was up 7.48 at 1,562.56 while the Standard & Poor’s 500 index was 4.54 at 1,037.28.
