Boy dies as tour bus carrying 59 children crashes in Germany
BERLIN (AP) — A tour bus carrying 59 children crashed near the eastern German city of Erfurt on Friday and a 5-year-old boy was fatally injured, police said.
Police said in a statement that the Austrian bus was heading toward Dresden on the A4 highway, and that all the children were believed to be from the eastern German state of Saxony. They said “a few” adults also were on board, and that several children sustained light or serious injuries.
The cause of the accident wasn’t immediately clear. The bus drove onto an embankment and tipped over, the dpa news agency reported.
