Santana Gets Star on Famed Walkway
LOS ANGELES (AP) _ Carlos Santana has jammed his way from Woodstock to the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
The leader of the rock group Santana was honored Monday with his own star on the famed walkway.
Santana’s hits include ``Black Magic Woman,″ ``Evil Ways″ and ``Oye Como Va.″ The group performed at the original Woodstock festival in 1969.
Actor Edward James Olmos was among the 600 people who crowded on Hollywood Boulevard to witness the unveiling.
``I wish for you all what God has given me,″ Santana said. ``I wish for all of you a thousand times over that you be blessed as I have been.″
The event coincided with the launch of ``Cada Cabeza Es Un Mundo/Each Mind is a World,″ the Hispanic Media Group’s national program to prevent Hispanic youngsters from dropping out of school.
``I am honored to receive a star in the Hollywood Walk of Fame, and to be able to use this occasion to help launch an important national program like Cada Cabeza makes it all the more special and worthwhile,″ Santana said.
