Tamou returns to NSW team for State of Origin 3
SYDNEY (AP) — Prop James Tamou was recalled to the New South Wales team for the third State of Origin rugby league match against Queensland on July 17 after missing the second match while facing a charge of drinking and driving.
Jarryd Hayne was initially named in the team but was ruled out by doctors on Monday due to a hamstring injury and was replaced on the wing by Newcastle’s James McManus for the series decider in Sydney.
New South Wales won the opening match 14-6 in Sydney on June 5 but Queensland leveled the series with a 26-6 win in Brisbane on June 26.
New South Wales is trying to win the series for the first time since 2005.
