CHICAGO (AP) — The Dodgers can win their 11th straight when they conclude a two-game set against the White Sox tonight in Chicago. Los Angeles owns the best record in baseball at 65-29 and has won 30 of 34, including its second 10-game winning streak of the season. Dodgers right-hander Kenta Maeda will face Chicago lefty Carlos Rodon (roh-DAHN’).

NEW YORK (AP) — Mets ace Jacob deGrom tries to win his seventh straight start when he faces the visiting Cardinals. DeGrom is 10-3 and has a 1.53 ERA during his winning streak.

BUDAPEST, Hungary (AP) — Ashley Twichell has given the United States its first gold medal of the swimming world championships in Hungary. She won the women’s 5-kilometer open water race by 3.5 seconds over Aurelie Muller of France. The bronze went to Ana Marcela Cunha of Brazil. Defending world champion Haley Anderson finished fifth.

SERRE-CHEVALIER, France (AP) — Green jersey holder Marcel Kittel has abandoned the Tour de France after crashing during the first climb of Stage 17 in the Alps. Before today’s crash, Kittel had already endured a bad day in the previous stage and had his lead in the best sprinter’s classification cut to 29 points. Australian rider Michael Matthews is now the favorite to win the green jersey, worn by the leader in the points competition.

MACKINAC ISLAND, Mich. (AP) — The annual Chicago Yacht Club Race to Mackinac (MAK’-ih-naw) Island, Michigan, has wrapped up with about two-thirds of the field making it to the finish despite difficult weather. Preliminary results posted on the race’s website say Wizard won the Chicago-Mackinac Trophy and TOA took home the Mackinac Cup. The 333-mile Lake Michigan race started Friday and Saturday off Chicago. Nearly 300 boats started and about 200 made it to the finish on Sunday, Monday and Tuesday. The Coast Guard rescued four people from a capsized boat on Sunday.
