Undated (AP) _ BENALMADENA, Spain (AP) - Soviet Union's Viktor Demidenko won the 18th stage of the 41st Tour of Spain cycling race Saturday. It marked the first victory by a Soviet rider in this 21-day event.

Spain's Alvaro Pino kept the yellow jersey as the overall leader of the race which ends in Jerez de la Frontera on May 13.

Demidenko covered the 119 miles run between Granada and Benalmadena in a time of 4 hours, 39 minutes and 57 seconds, at an average speed of 25 mph.

Carlos Emilio Gutierrez of Colombia was second, 10 seconds behind the winner and Jose del Ramo of Spain finished third, 35 seconds behind the Soviet rider.
