LOCAL COLLEGE ROUNDUP: Wilkes Men’s Ice Hockey Wins Home Opener
The Wilkes men’s ice hockey team had quite the housewarming on Friday night.
Playing their first game at the Toyota SportsPlex, the Colonels doubled up Stevenson, 4-2, for the second win of their inaugural season. Tyson Araujo, Donald Flynn, Tyler Barrow and Jivan Sidhu all scored.
Flynn also had an assist, giving him seven points (3G-4A) through four games.
Wilkes will try to put together its first win streak tonight with a 7:15 puck drop against Chatham.
Chatham 6, King’s 5 (OT)
At Revolution Ice Centre, Chatham scored five straight goals after falling behind 5-1 to prevent the Monarchs from earning their first win in program history.
Luciano Bucci, Isaac Cirinna and Christian La Croix all had a goal and assist for King’s.
The Monarchs host Stevenson at 4 p.m. today.
Women’s Ice Hockey
At Rochester, New York, Nazareth jumped out to a six-goal lead and cruised from there, handing King’s a 14-0 loss. Keeley Rose had six points for the Golden Flyers.
At Annville, Kirsten Siwy won the 200 free by more than 10 seconds and also won in the 200 free and 200 medley relays as King’s posted a 118-86 victory over Lebanon Valley.
At Annville, King’s won easily, 155-18, behind a 57.67-second effort from Chris Dionne in the 100 free and a number of other victories.
