INGLEWOOD, Calif. (AP) _ Sam's took the lead in the final furlong and drew clear for a two-length victory in Wednesday's $55,220 feature at Hollywood Park.

Ridden by Chris McCarron, Sam's covered 5 1/2 furlongs on the turf in 1:02 and paid $16.80, $5.20 and $3.40 for his first victory in three U.S. starts for the Argentine-bred.

Croft Pool returned $3.20 and $2.20, while Bolero Boy was another neck back in third and paid $2.60 to show.

The victory, worth $33,000, increased Sam's career earnings to $142,691, with six victories in 17 starts.
