Ricketts schedules trade mission to Germany

May 24, 2019

Gov. Pete Ricketts will lead a Nebraska trade mission to Germany this coming November.

Ricketts announced plans to travel to Berlin, Frankfurt and the Hanover and Dusseldorf regions of Germany during remarks at the Midwest International Trade Association’s annual world trade conference in La Vista this week.

“Germany is a global economic force with advanced capabilities in manufacturing, biotechnology and agriculture,” the governor said.

“Engaging with Germany is imperative in order to continue to raise Nebraska’s visibility with companies in the country, several of which already invest in Nebraska.”

Nebraska Department of Economic Development Director Dave Rippe and staff members were in Germany in April to promote Nebraska and introduce companies to the advantages of doing business in the state.

Exports to Germany from Nebraska totaled nearly $1.5 billion from 2010 to 2017.

Soybean exports amounted to $696 million during that period.
