Criminal sexual abuse

Kankakee County Sheriff’s police arrested Robert W. Nicholson Jr., 48, of Momence, on Sept. 22, on a warrant charging him with aggravated criminal sexual abuse of a victim under the age of 13 and sexual exploitation of a child on June 19 and 23, according to Kankakee County court documents. A judge set Nicholson’s bond at $150,000.

Domestic battery

Bourbonnais police arrested Matthew R. Papineau, 39, of Bourbonnais, for domestic battery on Sept. 24. According to a report, officers were called to a home in the 300 block of Belle Aire Avenue for a domestic dispute. Papineau is accused of battering his wife during an argument. A judge set Papineau’s bond at $50,000.

DUI

Illinois State Police District 21 arrested Curtis J. Childs, 39, of Kankakee, for driving under the influence of alcohol on Sept. 23. According to a release, a trooper on patrol in Kankakee County observed a vehicle make a lane change without signaling and then stop in the lane of traffic on Kinzie Avenue (Illinois Route 50) at North Street at 2:47 a.m. The trooper stopped the vehicle and spoke with the driver, Childs, who showed signs of alcohol impairment. Childs was issued tickets for improper parking on the roadway, driving while license revoked, operating an uninsured motor vehicle, illegal transportation of alcohol and failure to signal when changing lanes.

Illinois State Police District 21 arrested Todd S. Skopik, 43, of Kankakee, for driving under the influence of alcohol on Sept. 21 at 9:40 p.m. According to a release, a trooper was on patrol in Kankakee County and observed a vehicle traveling at a high rate of speed on Illinois Route 17 at 4500E Road. The trooper stopped the vehicle and spoke with the driver, Skopik, who showed signs of alcohol impairment. Skopik was issued a ticket for speeding.

Illinois State Police District 21 arrested Alejandro Perales, 33, of Berwyn, for driving under the influence of drugs on Sept. 19. According to a release, a trooper was on patrol in Iroquois County. The trooper observed a vehicle cross the center line several times on Interstate 57 northbound at mile marker 285. The trooper stopped the vehicle and spoke with the driver, Perales, who showed signs of drug impairment. Perales was issued tickets for improper lane usage, driving while license revoked and operating an uninsured motor vehicle.

Retail theft

Bourbonnais police arrested Jace A. Held, 33, of Bradley, for retail theft on Sept. 13. According to a report, an officer met with a loss prevention officer at Farm and Fleet, 1511 N. State Highway 50, in regard to retail thefts. Incidents occurred on Sept. 6, 10 and 13. Held is accused of taking power tools with another man. Police are looking for him. A judge set Held’s bond at $12,300.

Unlawful use of weapon

Kankakee police arrested Megail G. Waiters Jr., 27, of Kankakee, for aggravated unlawful use of a weapon and resisting a peace officer on Sept. 23. According to a report, a vehicle was stopped in the 800 block of North Greenwood Avenue for street racing at a high rate of speed at 2:13 a.m. The driver was arrested for reckless driving and issued a city ordinance for possession of cannabis. Waiters was a passenger. He was found to have a loaded firearm and no FOID card. A judge set Waiters’ bond at $20,000.
