Mass. state police arrest 4 biker club members
NEWBURYPORT, Mass. (AP) — Massachusetts State Police have arrested four alleged members of the Hells Angels and Red Devils motorcycle clubs and charged them with kidnapping, mayhem and extortion.
Police on Wednesday arrested Brian Weymouth of Danvers; Sean Burr of Lynn; Marc Eliason of Lynn; and Nicholas Avelis of Gloucester.
All four were ordered held without bail pending a dangerousness hearing next week at their arraignment Wednesday in Newburyport District Court.
According to court documents, the arrests were made in connection with a ritualistic retribution ceremony in Byfield in October in which a disgraced Red Devils member’s hand was smashed with a hammer.
Police say in searches of homes they found firearms and guns. They also searched the clubhouses of both clubs, which are reportedly on friendly terms.
