R. L. Zeigler Co., Inc. is recalling approximately 11,664 pounds of its ready-to-eat Zeigler “Red Hots” sausage links because they may contain metal pieces.

According to the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service, the recall applies to RTE Red Hot chicken and pork sausage items produced on Nov. 29 and includes:

Both products have a use-by date of Jan. 24, 2019 and were shipped to retail locations nationwide.

Consumers who have purchased these products are urged to check their freezers and refrigerators and are asked not to consume them. The sausages should be thrown away or returned. Consumers with questions about the recall can contact Jeff Berry at R. L. Zeigler Co., Inc. at 334-410-9845.
