Broad cleared of serious injury in 3rd Ashes test
PERTH, Australia (AP) — Stuart Broad has been cleared of serious injury and is ready to contribute to England’s bid to save the Ashes despite being hobbled after a Mitchell Johnson yorker crashed into his right foot.
Scans revealed no evidence of a fracture, England team management said via its official Twitter account on Monday.
Broad “will be reviewed on a regular basis ahead of the fourth test ... (and) will bat in this current test if required.”
England’s leading paceman in the series couldn’t bowl or field on Sunday, day three at the WACA, as Australia tightened its grip on the Ashes. He had to wait overnight for results of an MRI scan.
