Man jailed after repeated drunk driving arrest
NORFOLK — A reckless driver in the 800 block of East Norfolk Avenue was reported to the Norfolk Police Division on Sunday afternoon, resulting in a man arrested for third-offense drunk driving.
Two callers contacted police and both provided a description and license plate of the vehicle, police said.
The vehicle was located unoccupied in the Hy-Vee East gas station parking lot, said Capt. Mike Bauer of the Norfolk Police Division.
Police observed an open alcohol can in the cup holder and then had contact with the driver, Angel M. Villalobos, 24, unknown address, Bauer said.
During the contact, Bauer said police reportedly could smell alcohol coming from him. They questioned him about drinking.
He was then requested to perform field sobriety maneuvers and submit to a preliminary breath test. The results of the sobriety maneuvers showed impairment and the preliminary breath test results were over three times the legal limit, police said.
Villalobos was arrested for driving under the influence 3rd offense +.150. At the city jail, he refused to submit to a chemical test of his breath.
He was then also arrested for refusal to submit to a chemical test. He was housed in the Norfolk City Jail and later transferred to the Madison County Jail.
