AAUW to hear about domestic violence

The American Association of University Women Fort Bend Branch will host Sherri Kendall for a program looking at domestic violence issues in the region.

The program is scheduled to start at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 10, with a social period followed by Kendall’s presentation at 7 p.m. The meeting will be held at Wharton County Junior College Brazos Hall, Room 281, 14004 University Blvd. in Sugar Land.

Kendall is CEO of Aid to Victims of Domestic Abuse will speak about AVDC, which believes that all people have the right to lives without violence. Domestic violence is an insidious form of violence that often remains “behind closed doors” due to fear and lack of information. AVDA provides free legal representation and other services to all victims of domestic violence who live in Harris and Fort Bend counties — regardless of citizenship status.
